Editing

Karen Krossing is an editor with experience in educational publishing, business and technical writing, as well as fiction and nonfiction for kids and teens. As an in-house developmental editor, she has coached authors for publishers such as Oxford University Press and McGraw-Hill Ryerson. As a freelancer, she has written and edited print and online communications for educational and business clients. As a mentor of emerging writers for children, she has provided professional manuscript evaluations and coaching. Karen has a certificate in Professional and Technical Writing from York University and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

 

Educational Editing

Karen develops print and online instructional materials for children through to adults. This involves understanding the learning process, analyzing market trends, coordinating the writing and production process, as well as writing and editing. Ongoing projects include substantive and copy editing of the Occupation-specific Language Training Curriculum for Colleges Ontario.

 

Business and Technical Writing and Editing

Karen offers strategic communication solutions for business clients. She has written articles, press releases, corporate identity statements, case studies, web copy, product manuals, and POP material for a variety of industries, including healthcare, pharmaceutical, real estate, homebuilding, and financial.

 

Fiction and Nonfiction Editing
